My first experience with the product was a task that was not actually part of the design of mvToolbox. However, this made no difference as the Toolbox was extremely effective at isolating the areas I wanted to target and merge changes across multiple programs at once. I found the staff very helpful, willing to listen to suggestions on product improvement, and answer 'how to' questions. I recommend the mvToolbox to any multivalue developer, whether he or she is an expert or novice. Consultants will also find this product very useful indeed.

My first experience with mvToolbox was in 1999. I was hired to do some work for the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. My job was to take all 3000 programs and check them for any Y2K problems. I commenced work on these programs and happened to look at the consultant that was in charge of the department. What I saw was something that I thought was impossible. He was editing a program and then moving directly to the subroutine that it was calling. I had to find out how he did it. After all, most of my experience was with Pick Systems products and I was on a Unidata system and thought perhaps they had added some new feature. It turns out that he was using his own tools. He showed me what they were and I agreed to use them. This was a raw version - it did not have help and faqs etc. It was just for his use rather than a full blown product as it is today. I not only learned how to use the tools but completed the project, slated for 6 months, in just 2 months. I am proud to say that when the code was put into production there was not a single error from all the changes that I made. It turns out there was no Y2K problem, but they had a lot of code that would allow for the entry of bad dates and so I used the Y2K as an excuse to fix their code for them. I also noted that I would make suggestions for improving his tools and they would quickly appear in the tools. Eugene

Hey, I thought you'd find this funny: I got back into coding as soon as I got back. It's amazing how "primitive" coding feels once you get a taste of the ToolBox. I was looking at a Gosub statement and for a second I was tempted to click on it. Later I was looking at a label and it just seemed like a chore to scroll through the code to see where the Gosubs were. Bro might want to consider a free 30 day trial, with no source and which cannot be renewed except with his permission. It'll be like drugs on a playground, he'll get the kids hooked. :)
